A fundamental mission of the International Gifted Education Teacher-Development Network (IGET-Network) is to bring world-wide best practices in the gifted education field of study and practice, to countries where gifted education is not incorporated into school governance policies. We aim to assist schools in recognizing and nurturing culturally diverse learners’ potential for achieving beyond what is often expected of them. Our mission embraces an appreciation of cultural differences and a respect for tradition and values. We aim to unselfishly share a broad base of international expertise, duplicate to the extent possible successful program practices and services, and offer a unique level of support to primary/secondary schools and institutions of higher learning.
It is our mission to cross borders in areas where children possess outstanding potentials yet because of extenuating circumstances are never recognized as gifted, talented or having high potential. We believe that to achieve at outstanding levels in all ability domains (e.g., academically, creatively, intellectually, artistically and in leadership ability), it takes a village to raise the child to a level of competitiveness where s/he will one day matriculate at colleges and universities matched to abilities and enter challenging career and leadership roles. Critical to our mission is the inclusion of classroom teachers in the recognition and nurturance process.
